I love making slushies in my Ninja CREAMi: they’re frosty, fun and delicious any time of year. If you don’t own a Ninja CREAMi, don’t worry — below I explain how to make this frozen mimosa using the same ingredients with alternative methods.

Why you’ll love this recipe

  • Only three simple ingredients.
  • Can be prepared ahead and frozen for easy entertaining.
  • Perfect for brunch, celebrations or New Year’s Eve.
  • Use Prosecco for an economical option or Champagne for a special treat.

Ingredients

Ingredients: prosecco, orange juice, sugar.

Sparkling wine: Prosecco works well and keeps costs down; use Champagne for something more celebratory.

Orange juice: Fresh or bottled both work — use whichever you prefer.

Sugar: A little granulated sugar brightens the flavor. If your orange juice is very sweet, you can skip the sugar — taste the mix before freezing, remembering flavors will mellow when frozen.

How to make a mimosa slushy

See the recipe card at the end for exact measurements and timing.

Measure the sparkling wine and stir to release some of the bubbles. Add the orange juice and sugar, then stir or blend until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is even.

Process shots: flattening prosecco, adding orange juice, spinning on slushy.

Reserve ½ to ¾ cup of the mixed liquid and chill it in the fridge — you’ll use this later to loosen the slush.

Without a Ninja CREAMi

Pour the remaining mix into ice cube trays and freeze until solid. When frozen, blend the cubes with the reserved chilled liquid using a high-speed blender or an immersion blender in a tall jug until you reach a slushy consistency.

Using a regular Ninja CREAMi

Pour the mixture into the Ninja pint up to the Max Fill line and freeze flat for 24 hours. Process on the “sorbet” setting, then add the reserved liquid and mix until you achieve a slushy texture. If it’s too firm, let it sit a few minutes to soften and mix again.

Using a Deluxe Ninja CREAMi

Pour the mix into the Ninja pint up to the Drinkable Freeze Fill line and freeze for 24 hours. After freezing, add the reserved liquid to the Drinkable Pour In line, then use the Full + Slushi settings. Respin or let the pint sit briefly if you prefer a looser slush.

How to serve

Glass of Mimosa slushy with tall spoons and fresh orange slice on the side.

Spoon the slushy into glasses, add a straw or spoon, garnish with an orange slice if you like, and serve immediately. It’s especially lovely for warm-weather brunches and festive occasions.

How to store

The blended slushy is best served immediately — it will melt quickly. You can store the frozen mixture (before blending) for up to one month in the freezer. Keep the reserved chilled liquid in the refrigerator and use it within three days.

Tips for success and frequently asked questions

Can I use a different juice?

Yes — while this recipe is written for orange juice, other citrus juices such as blood orange or ruby grapefruit would be delicious. I haven’t tested every variation, so adjust sugar to taste.

Can I make fruit variations?

Absolutely. For example, try a Bellini slushy with peach puree or a Rossini with pureed strawberries.

Deluxe Ninja CREAMi

  • 1 1/3 cups (335 ml) sparkling wine

Instructions

  1. Make sure the freezer has space so the Ninja pint or ice trays can sit flat.
  2. Pour the sparkling wine into your container and stir to release some bubbles.
  3. Add orange juice and sugar, stirring until combined. Taste and adjust sugar if needed.
  4. Reserve ½ cup (regular) to ¾ cup (deluxe) of the mix and chill in the refrigerator.
  5. Without a CREAMi: freeze the remaining mix in ice cube trays until solid. Blend the cubes with the reserved liquid until slushy.

If you prefer a looser slushy, let the finished mix sit a few minutes to soften and stir before serving.
