Handmade bunny soaps made with an easy melt-and-pour base and orange essential oil. These small soaps are a lovely candy-free addition to Easter baskets.
Spring break has arrived and Easter is almost here, so we spent the first day decorating eggs and preparing simple, handmade gifts for the kids’ baskets. I like to keep baskets modest—usually a chocolate bunny, a small toy or plush, and a few handmade items. Last year we made bunny bath bombs that were a hit, and this year I’m adding mini bunny soaps along with egg-shaped bath bombs made in plastic egg molds.
These bunny soaps are quick to make with a melt-and-pour soap base, a bunny-shaped silicone mold, and a few drops of orange essential oil for a fresh, uplifting scent. I used a goat’s milk soap base for a creamy feel and a soft soap colorant to tint them pastel. Below are the simple supplies and steps I followed.
How to make Easter bunny soap
- Bunny-shaped silicone mold
- Goat’s milk melt-and-pour soap base
- Orange essential oil
- Soap colorant or a drop of food coloring
- Step one: Cut the soap base into small cubes and place them in a microwave-safe bowl or a large Pyrex cup. Heat in short intervals, stirring often, until the base is fully melted and smooth.
- Step two: Stir in 6–10 drops of orange essential oil (adjust to preference) and a tiny amount of soap colorant or 1–2 drops of food coloring for pastel shades. Mix thoroughly so the color and scent distribute evenly.
- Step three: Carefully pour the scented, colored soap into the bunny molds. Tap the mold gently to release any trapped air bubbles, then set aside to cool and harden. Allow the soaps to set completely for a few hours before removing them from the mold.

Once removed from the molds, I plan to wrap each bunny soap in a small cellophane bag with paper grass for a festive presentation.
